The effects of Mother Nature from 2019 certainly had an impact on feed inventories and quality throughout Eastern Wisconsin, and most likely will continue this winter. And with late planted corn, fingers are crossed for a late fall. Because of the financial impact of feed on the milking herd, UW-Madison Extension will be hosting a “Meeting Tomorrow’s Feeding Challenges Today” Seminar, as part of our popular “Supporting Farmers During Challenging Times” meetings. Two locations will be offered, for your convenience on September 25th:
- 9 am to 11:30 am Millhome Supper Club, Kiel
- 1 pm to 3:30 pm Liberty Hall, Kimberly
Below is a link to a brochure promoting the upcoming meeting. Speakers include Form-A-Feed Forage Quality Specialist Troy Brown on “How to Harvest, Store & Feed this Year’s Forages” and Extension Outagamie County Crops & Soils Agent Kevin Jarek on “Negotiating a Fair Price with this Year’s Forages”.
There is a small $5 fee for the program to help offset light refreshments and materials which can be paid at the door. Please RSVP by Monday, September 23 by contacting Kevin Jarek at kevin.jarek@wisc.edu, or online at http://bit.ly/2lzRHPV in order to have enough materials and refreshments.
We hope you will be able to find time within your busy schedule to join us as we work together to support Eastern Wisconsin’s dairy industry. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact one of us.
