Money Smart Wisconsin
Purpose and Mission
Created by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 2002, Money Smart Week is a national public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. Money Smart Week-Fox Cities (in Northeast Wisconsin) was launched in 2005 as part of the national initiative in partnership with the Chicago Fed and the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions. The Fox Cities region includes partners from area businesses and organizations that collaborate to offer financial wellness programming, events and activities for people of all ages and income levels.

Retirement Experience
You are invited to a fun, experiential learning program that uses common scenarios for those in different stages of life (20’s, 30’s, 40’s, and beyond). You’ll explore the financial situation of a fictional (but very real) person or couple, and as a group, find ways to help your “person” get to a more comfortable retirement. Then you will have the opportunity to apply what you have discovered to your own unique situation. discuss how to determine the current value of your home, things you can do to increase the equity in your home and strategies for accessing and utilizing your home’s equity. Understanding your home’s value, available equity, and tactics for growing one of your most important investments will give clarity to your entire financial position.

Children’s Big Read with Fang

Follow along with Fang as we read “a Bike Like Sergio’s” where we discover the main character, Reuben, picks up someone’s lost money, and finds out how hard it can be to do the right thing. This free book will be available in Spanish and English. Following the book reading, children will break into small groups for a chance win prizes as they learn about needs vs wants, play a matching/counting game, and even have the chance to draw a picture of their very own savings goal!
